Anthony is a small town located in south-central Kansas that is constantly growing and developing. The town was founded in 1878 by George T. Anthony, Governor of Kansas from 1876-1878 and now has a population of 2,200 people. Anthony is a quiet and peaceful town that boasts a friendly community, excellent schools, and a low-cost of living lifestyle. The town has a rich history and is home to many recreational areas, including the Anthony Golf Course, Southern Kansas Bow Range, Anthony Gun Club, and the Anthony Lake, where residents and visitors enjoy hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching. Anthony hosts several annual events and festivals that visitors and local residents love to attend. Some of the most popular events are the Sunflower Balloon Festival and the Show and Shine Car Show. Anthony is also home to the official Kansas 9-11 Memorial, which was designed by local residents. It displays steel from the World Trade Center, soil from the Pennsylvania crash site, and limestone from the Pentagon.
